Greenside Café is encouraging people to “Go Green, Be Veg and Save the Planet.” The impact that a vegetarian, and even better, a vegan diet has on our planet is profound. It reduces the carbon footprint because the meat and dairy industry require deforestation, huge amounts of water, most of the world’s crops (for animal feed), antibiotics and hormones to produce meat and dairy. Animal agriculture uses up to 70% of the available clean water on earth.

Saving the planet one meal at a time

Greenside Café owner, Dimitri Gutjahr, prides himself in his food combinations and claims that his customers love the way they feel, and the abundant energy they receive after eating at the Greenside café.

“My biggest compliment” he says, “is the number of non-vegetarians who come to the restaurant because they love the taste and freshness of the food. They feel it’s delicious and know it’s healthy”.

IF WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT SAVING OUR PLANET, we have to change. The Greenside cafe mission is to show people that the vegan diet is delicious, exciting and filled with endless variety. We are what we eat and the Greenside Café is all about health and happiness.

High powered chia breakfast.

Spoil yourself to a high powered chia breakfast packed with healthy protein and omega’s – throw in some berries for antioxidant’s and a little thinly sliced banana for potassium – add warm almond milk and a drizzle of coconut nectar, and you have yourself a kings breakfast!

Chia – so easy to make, underrated, this breakfast ought to be on every breakfast menu in the world. Everyone would benefit from consuming this at least once per week. Versatile – any fruit will compliment chia together with non dairy milk.

Use chia as a power breakfast, pop it into your smoothies, make delicious desserts and, use chia in place egg.

Serves 3:

Ingredients:

50 grams chia (soak in boiled water)
3 x 250ml almond milk
2 bananas (sliced)
6 large strawberries (quartered)
9 raspberries (whole)
coconut nectar

To make:

Add your chia to a bowl together with boiled water. Chia grows to about 3-4 times it’s size, so add two x 250ml water first, then add more as you require and allow to soak for a couple of minutes. You will end up with a ‘gooey’ texture.

Whilst that is happening – prepare your fruit, and heat up your almond milk on a low temperature.

Add your chia mix to your milk and stir until smooth and desired temperature. Serve to your breakfast bowls and garnish with your choice of fruit. A final drizzle of coconut nectar to finish off and enjoy!

P.S. – Please note that the consistency of your breakfast is a personal choice, should you wish for your bowl of chia to be thicker in consistency, then add less milk or more chia to the mix. This for me is just perfect!

Atsumi Raw Cafe

Welcome to Atsumi Raw Café located in Rawai, Phuket, Thailand. The Raw Café officially opened in February 2013 and was the brain child of Atsumi Detox center owner Anna Wasin.

The Raw café serves lovingly prepared Raw vegan food  (breakfasts, snacks, mains, desserts), as well as an amazing selection of juices and smoothies. Where ever possible they use locally sourced and organic ingredients.

You can find them almost directly opposite Vijitt Resort on the main Viset Road in Rawai. On the corner with Soi Mangosteen.
They aim to create thrilling gourmet meals with rich flavours, and an abundance of nutrients that are so often missing in a modern diet. Everything is made by hand from local, seasonal, and mainly organic ingredients. This means that a culinary speciality at Raw Café by Atsumi is good for body, soul and planet. This is food that people from all dietary backgrounds (including carnivores!) will choose to eat and share thanks to its beautiful looks and delicious substance. They promise that once you have eaten with them you will leave feeling totally satisfied, rejuvenated, light and energetic. What is raw food?

A raw food diet consists of unprocessed, raw plant foods that have not been above 40 °C (104 °F). Heating food above 40 degrees kills the precious enzymes in food, reduces the nutrients and vitamins, and changes the metabolic structure of our
food. Enzymes are the life force of a food, helping us to digest food and absorb nutrients. If we over consume cooked food, our bodies are forced to work harder by producing more enzymes. Over time, a lack of enzymes from food will contribute to digestive problems, nutrient deficiency, accelerated aging, and weight gain

Eating at The Raw Café is a pleasure and a feast for all of the senses. Of course the best introduction is to come and try it for yourself.

Cuisine is noted as breakfast, Thai, vegan

Dine in and take away options are available.

The Raw Café is open Daily from 9 a.m. until 8.30 p.m. (Last Order at 8.00 p.m.)
