Tamarind, uniquely beneficial – all vegan.

Tamarind is the edible fruit of  the Tamarindus Indica Tree. While it’s native to the tropical regions of Africa, the pulp has been used in cuisines across the world.

The young fruit is sour, but once ripe, it has a sweet taste that’s used to flavour drinks, jams, ice cream, and an array of snacks. Tamarind is ubiquitous in India, parts of Africa, and Asia.  Unripe fruit is sometimes turned into pulp and used for pickling.   In India, it’s also used in curries and chutneys.

Raw tamarind is high in several B vitamins, as well as iron, magnesium, and potassium — all vital to human health.  It’s a condiment. It’s a spice. No, it’s a bean. The “Manila sweet,” as the tamarind is sometimes called, is all of the above. Tamarind seed extract, which is deliciously tangy, is one of the most highly prized foods in Asian and Indian cuisine.

Each 100 grams of tamarind contain impressive amounts of essential nutrients, including 36% of the daily recommended value in thiamin, 35% in iron, 23% in magnesium, and 16% in phosphorus. Said to be native to Africa, this exotic fruit grows on exceptionally tall trees of the fabaceae family, such as peas, beans, and other legumes, mostly in the warmer, dryer areas of Asia, Mexico, and India.

Tamarind trees produce an abundance of long, curved, brown pods filled with small brown seeds, surrounded by a sticky pulp that dehydrates naturally to a sticky paste. The pods look a bit like huge, brown, overly mature green beans.

It’s better to purchase tamarind when it’s fresh and still in the pod. Refrigeration is the best way to preserve the freshness for up to several months.

Figs – eat more fruit to stay healthy.

New Compounds in Figs Kills Breast Cancer Cells: Researchers have just discovered nine new compounds in figs which are toxic to breast cancer cells, killing over 50% of them at concentrations that, in one case, approached the potency of the chemo drug cis-platinum. Although these new compounds are in very early stage research, it is already known that figs are a potent anti-cancer fruit. Figs deliver the highest concentrations of cancer-fighting polyphenols (2100 mg of polyphenols per 100 grams fruit) of any known fruit except dates. And this isn’t just theoretical: one recent study on healthy people showed that eating 40 grams of figs actually doubled their bloods’ antioxidant capacity within one hour! As for cancer prevention, fig extracts have proven toxic to melanoma, stomach, throat, bone, brain and liver cancers in lab studies. And in one new fascinating population study out of Jordan, where people eat figs regularly, one serving of this super-fruit daily was shown to reduce colon cancer risk by a stunning 49%. Figs are delicious fresh or dried (but the fresh fruit delivers about twice the polyphenols) and make a great snack any time of day. And for those who are feeling stressed, figs might be the perfect natural cure: it was also found that fig extracts decreased anxiety and had a mild muscle-relaxant effect.

A General Rule of Thumb:

Eating pure, whole, and raw foods will provide the necessary support for your kidneys as well as every other detoxifying organ in your body. Also, it is imperative that you drink enough pure, filtered water every day in order to provide an easier route for toxins to evacuate your kidneys. You can use distilled water for this purpose; simply add 1 tbsp. of raw apple cider vinegar to an 8-ounce glass to give it an extra boost.

The kidneys are our organs that filter out toxins and waste from the bloodstream. Because toxins can affect your entire body, there is no question that supporting your kidneys is crucial for keeping your overall health in check. Without a balanced diet, purified drinking water, and body cleansing, toxins can build up and affect the function of the kidneys, liver, and neighbouring organs, and may even lead to kidney stones and other problems. Innocent victims of dog food negligence.

Legal loophole: pet food companies have dangerous preservatives added before they receive the ‘raw’ products to exploit a legal loophole. Pet foods labels as chemical and preservative free are actually choc full of deadly poisons.

All animal derived commercial dog foods are garbage.

Before materials used for pet food are shipped from the slaughterhouse to the rendering plant, the by- product is ‘denatured’. This means that crude carbolic acid, cresylic disinfectant and citronella is sprayed on the product

The most powerful and toxic preservative, called ethoxyquin, linked to cancers, allergies and immune system collapse is not listed in the ingredients label, because ‘pet ‘ food companies don’t have to let you know about dangerous chemicals added before they receive the ‘raw’ products.

Please don’t let ignorant tragedy become your own. Years of research through dog experts, vets and dog owners from all over the world  on commercial dog food and proper canine health and nutrition has proved  that major dog food companies fill their brands with toxic processed foods also containing preservatives to increase its shelf life and maximise their profits. The preservatives found in some commercial dog food could destroy your dogs kidneys and other organs. Preservatives are not the only reason that dog food kills dogs.

If you think that foods that you buy with foods labels that say they are chemical and preservative free makes them safe, then think again.

Commercial dog food contains at least 6 dangerous chemicals which are banned from human foods because they cause kidney cancer, stomach cancer, bladder cancer, skin cancer, spleen cancer, leukaemia, liver dysfunction, major organ failure, immune system collapse, severe allergic reactions, blindness, chronic diarrhea, hair loss, behaviour problems including increased aggressiveness.

Another dirty trick pet food companies pull on us as well as on our companion friends:

Your dogs food contains pets  (cat’s and dog’s), killed by lethal injection.  The city of L.A alone sends some 200 tons of euthanized cats and dogs to a pet food plant every month.  The true horror is the drug used to kill these stray and abandoned animals, called sodium pentobarbital, is not broken down by the manufacturing process and is still present in active form in your dogs food.

Some veterinarians and animal advocates have known about the dangers of sodium pentobarbital residue in commercial pet food, yet the danger has not been alleviated.

The euthanized pets are thrown into the rendering vats still with their collars, ID tags and plastic bags they arrive in.

Dog food companies don’t stop with pets.

Your dog is also eating euthanized animals from zoos, animal control and putrid, decaying road kill scraped off the road with a shovel, as well as left over animal parts from slaughter facilities whom have been fed and injected with various chemicals.

Can it get any worse than that?

All of these dead animals and other ghastly materials are processed until the portion left over for dog food is a brown powder, which consists of 25% fecal matter.

Pet food is a 13 billion dollar ultra competitive industry.

The pet food industry is dominated by gigantic companies with thousands of shareholders, who care about share prices and profits, first and foremost not your dog.

Stop using animal derived commercial dog food as your only or main source of food. This step is the most important and you ought to make the switch within the next couple of days.  But you can’t make this change unless you have a good alternative plan of action in place.

Also learn how to read all commercial dog food labels. The grocery Manufacturers Of America, the National Food Processors Association, and The Pet Food Institute join together and lobby against the FDA to keep the labelling terms used as confusing and misleading as possible. Make the switch to a reputable vegan dog food label gradually but as soon as possible.

It’s very easy if you know how to specifically cook for dogs.  You can even cook a large batch and then freeze portions which can be eaten over several days or even over a couple of weeks.  But we sure to have a good source of recipes written as they have specific requirements.

Blueberries for health!

Ever tasted a Blue Berry? Liked its tangy taste? Yes? Then you will absolutely love them even more once you finish reading this stuff. Before we proceed, allow us to give you a short introduction of Blue Berries, for those who have never tasted or seen one, and also for those who know them well.

Blue Berry is a fruit belonging to Vaccinium family with two well known types. First one is the wild or the low-bush Blue Berry bearing the scientific name ‘vaccinium angustifolium’ and the second one, the ‘vaccinium corymbosum’, is commonly known as the cultivated or the high-bush Blue Berry. There is one more type but that is not so well known. Its scientific name is ‘vaccinium pallidum’.


Ailments, causes and healing effect of Blue Berries:


Aging:

Leaving aside the genetic factor, for which there is no apparent solution, if we consider the effect of free radicals on aging, then Blue Berries bring you the brightest ray of hope, for they are laden with anti oxidants and rank number 1 in the world of anti oxidants. This is mainly due to presence of Anthocyanin, a pigment responsible for the blue color of the blue berries. The abundance of vitamin-C is also a big factor for this as well.


Urinary Tract Infection:

The building of colonies of certain bacteria like b-coli along the lining of the inner walls of urinary tract is responsible for this infection, resulting in inflammation, burning sensation during in passage of urine and other complications. Here, Blue Berries can be surprisingly beneficial. It has a compound formed of big polymer like heavy molecules which inhibits the growth of such bacteria. It also has some anti biotic properties which adds to this effect. These heavy and big molecules almost wash-off these bacteria along the tract, thereby preventing the infection. So far, this compound is found only in Cranberries and Blue Berries.
