If you love Asian-inspired meals, you need an all-purpose vegan sauce on hand at all times.

This ginger-infused garlic sauce goes great on everything from rice to vegetables to tofu, and takes just a few minutes to put together.

Not only is it healthier than store-bought versions, but it will save you money and encourage you to throw together more simple meals at home.

VEGAN GARLIC SAUCE

2⁄3 cup tamari

1⁄2 cup vegetable broth

1⁄3 cup rice wine

31⁄2 tablespoons organic cane sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons organic olive oil

2 tablespoon fresh minced garlic

1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1⁄4 cup water

Combine tamari, vegetable broth, rice wine and sugar in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water.

Heat olive oil in a pan over high heat. Cook garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds.

Add soy sauce mixture and bring to a boil.

Cook over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes.

Add the cornstarch and water solution and cook until the sauce thickens to desired consistency.

James Cameron: Want to fight climate change? Go vegan.

James Cameron, famed director and well-known climate change activist, has a message for the masses: go vegan to fight climate change.

Cameron, who has been vegan for four years, spoke at a climate change summit in Los Angeles earlier this week about the impact of food systems and diet on climate change.

In an exclusive interview with Fortune, Cameron explains:

The thing that became abundantly clear to us when we met with the experts who are working in nutrition and energy sustainability and climate change is that we can’t actually meet our emission goals if we don’t address animal agriculture, and that’s the thing that’s been left out of the conversation.

This message is crucial because many people who care about the environment still have no idea that raising animals for food is so incredibly destructive.

But consider this :

Going vegan immediately cuts your CO2 emissions in half.

It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce just half a kilo of ‘beef’.

80 percent of land deforested in the Amazon is for raising cattle.

Factory farms grossly contaminate rivers and ground water.

While the widespread negative repercussions of animal agriculture is overwhelming, Cameron’s message is one of hope:

The simple resounding message is you will be healthier and your planet will be healthier based on a very simple thing that you can do today. And you’ll also save money because eating a plant-based diet is just frankly cheaper. It’s cheaper to produce plants. It’s less carbon footprint, less water footprint, less money footprint and better for you.

Of course, one of the best reasons and the most ethical one, to ditch animal ‘products’ is to prevent unnecessary animal suffering and death.

How to make vegan mayonnaise in 5 minutes.

Simple recipes are awesome. Simple and delicious recipes are even better. This is definitely one of those recipes. I’ve tried quite a few store-bought vegan mayos, but I was never completely satisfied with the ingredients they use (too many preservatives).  So I decided to make vegan mayonnaise at home. You’re going to love how easy this is!

Ingredients:

½ cup unsweetened soy milk

1 cup grapeseed oil (olive oil works too)

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp lemon juice

½ tsp agave (or another sweetened of your choice)

¼ tsp dry mustard (or ½ tsp Dijon mustard)

¾ tsp salt

Directions:

Combine all ingredients except for oil in a high-speed blender and blend on high speed for 1 minute.

Reduce the speed to low and gradually pour in the oil. Continue blending on low speed for another minute. The mixture will slowly thicken.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.
